10 credit Level 3 module is offered by the School of
Healthcare. It is suitable for all health professionals who care for
patients who have ear, nose and throat and oral/ maxillofacial conditions.
The module uses a range of teaching strategies such as lectures, seminars
and tutorials.

Nottingham Head and Neck Modules
Module: Head and Neck
Cancer in ENT and Maxillofacial Care (Nottingham)
Module Code; CHN - B72/B73
Credit Rating: 20 credits
Academic level: 2 and 3
Place of delivery: Nottingham
Target audience: All health care professionals involved in the
management
of Head and Neck Cancer patients, both within and external to the hospital
setting.
Descriptor: This module explores pathophysiology, treatments for head
and
neck cancer, physical, psychosocial, and social implications of altered body
image, the role of the multidisciplinary team, and the role of the
self-help organisations.
2007 Dates: 5,6,7,8 Nov & 3,4,5,6 Dec plus an additional day for
seminar presentations for level 2 candidates.

Module Code: HNC B72/B73
Credit Rating; 20 credits

Target Audience: All Health Care professionals working in
ENT, Maxillofacial and Ophthalmic care.
Descriptor: This module will explore the anatomy and
pathophysiology relevant to ENT, Maxillofacial and Ophthalmic care.
Management of common conditions will be discussed, providing the
practitioner with knowledge of current research findings to underpin their
clinical practice Sessions on altered body image, health promotion, pain
management and professional issues will contribute to the development of
your specialist practice. This module will provide the basic skills and
knowledge to allow the development of a holistic approach to the
management of the head and neck client.
2007 Dates: 10,11,12,13 Sept & 8,9,10,11 Oct plus additional day
for seminar presentation for level 2.

Module Code: HNT B72/B73
Credit Rating: 20 credits

Target Audience: All Health Care Professional s working
in ENT, Maxillofacial and Ophthalmic Care.
Descriptor: The module will explore causes and effects of
trauma across the ENT, Maxillofacial and Ophthalmic specialisms. Other
emergencies such as infection and inflammation will be addressed. Applied
microbiology and pharmacology will be included. The care of the head and
neck trauma and emergency client will be critically reviewed.
2007 Dates: 14,15,16,17 May & 11,12,13,14 June plus additional day
for additional day for seminar presentation for level 3 candidates.

ENT, Maxillofacial and Ophthalmic care.
Descriptor: The module will explore pioneering
treatments and evidence based practice relevant to ENT, Maxillofacial and
Ophthalmic specialisms., thus contributing to innovative specialist
practice. Themed days will be an integral part of the module, and will
include complementary therapies, paediatrics, and expanded role practices.
2007 Dates: 2,3,4,5,23,24,25,26 April plus an additional day for
poster presentations for level 2 candidates.
